To provide students with a space reflective of the industry interiors they’ll work in after graduating as well as to attract international students and industry leaders alike, was the brief.
Inspired by the radio frequency of Radio ECU, the acoustic timber treatment along the entrance corridor provided sound attenuation for studios and teaching spaces behind it, as well as a high-end, corporate image for the entrance into Building 13 at Edith Cowan University’s Mount Lawley Campus.
Working with the university, we incorporated the technical requirements for radio broadcasting with the educational environment required by lecturers and students. Within the space available, the following spaces were accommodated: showcase radio studio, 3 voice over booths, radio newsroom, media lounge, 3 further radio studios, 3 radio production offices, a meeting room and teaching / media communication centre.
